Your Role

We’re modernizing the power grid with autonomous drone inspection technology. As our Robotics Software Engineer, you will be at the heart of our drone's intelligence, developing the software that enables our systems to operate safely and effectively in the real world.

You'll be working closely on the core logic, from flight systems to sensor data processing, directly shaping the technology that helps utilities keep the lights on for millions of people. We're looking for a talented problem solver who is driven to write excellent code and see it deployed on physical hardware.

How you succeed

  • Design, develop, and implement core flight software for our autonomous drone systems.
  • Process and analyze sensor data in real-time to inform navigation and control logic.
  • Work with our modern robotics stack (ROS2, PX4, C++) to build robust, field-ready software.
  • Collaborate closely with the hardware team to ensure seamless software/hardware integration.
  • Tackle complex programming challenges to solve real-world problems in the energy sector.

What You Bring

Strong programming skills in modern C++ and/or Python.

A proven track record of solving challenging technical problems.

Experience with robotics, real-time systems, or autonomous navigation.

A desire to write clean, reliable, and efficient code.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with ROS2, PX4, or similar robotics frameworks.

Experience with processing and analyzing data from various sensors (e.g., IMU, GPS, cameras, LiDAR).

Previous experience deploying software on hardware devices in the field.

Why Nomadic?

  • Your work strengthens critical infrastructure and accelerates the energy transition.
  • You’ll own big pieces of the product and see your designs deployed in the real world.
  • You’ll join a small, ambitious, diverse team where your voice and ideas matter.
  • We move fast: what you build will be flying and testing in weeks, not years.

Recruitment Process

  1. Intro call with one of the founders: learn about Nomadic and share your story.
  2. Call with one of our engineers: dive deeper into the technical side.
  3. Meet the team: get a feel for the culture and ask us anything.
  4. Offer: congrats, we’d love to have you on board!

Hard Requirements

  • Already in or willing to relocate to Munich.
  • Valid EU residence permit.
  • Strong English (C1 or higher).

Wondering why the requirements list is focused on your problem-solving abilities? We believe there are many paths that make you qualified. If you’re excited about modernizing critical infrastructure and want to grow with the role, we want to hear your story.
